Professional Nanny of the Year Award 2008

Greycoat Placements were proud sponsors of the first prize for the Professional Nanny of the Year 2008 award which was won by Debbie Darnborough, from Church Stretton in Shropshire.

MD, Stephanie Rough was on hand to present the first prize to Debbie at the annual conference of Voice: the Union for Education Professionals on 29th July 2008. Debbie, an experienced nanny, currently caring for 3 children aged 7, 4 and 5 months, was a worthy winner following an intensive selection procedure which starts with a nomination by their employer and the necessity to meet strict entry criteria followed by in-depth interviews and observance of the nannies working with children at the Chiltern College in Caversham, Reading. Debbie won a four-star premium two-night weekend break for two together with annual membership to Voice.

The second and third place finalists, Sophie Mitchell and Filsane Gure, were also awarded with prizes sponsored by Nannytax and Norland College respectively.

As always the finalists were of very high standards and meant the selection panel had a very difficult job to undertake in choosing the worthy winner. Heidi McFadyen, Professional Nanny of the Year 2007, has been an excellent promoter of the event over the last year and was able to hand over the award to Debbie at the ceremony. Heidi continues to work with the family who nominated her for the award last year.

The Professional Nanny of the Year Award, launched in 2004, was created to recognise the highly professional, important role nannies play in providing high quality, safe and flexible childcare to thousands of families throughout the UK. It is hoped that this Award will significantly raise the profile of professional nannies, giving them the recognition they deserve. The award is organized by Voice: the union for education professionals (previously known as PAT, incorporating the Professional Association of Nursery Nurses (PANN)).
