15 Aug 2008 Greycoat Support: Criminal Records Checks The press has recently reported that Employers have been unlawfully using the Criminal Records Bureau to check the background of job applicants. The CRB was designed to undertake checks on people who are to work with children and/or vulnerable adults and Greycoat Placements have been supporting these regulations for many years.
REC members, of whom Greycoat Placements is one, sign up to a Code of Practice and ethics with strict guidelines to help employers ensure safe recruitment. CRB checks form only part of an employer’s selection process and whilst Greycoat Placements will always ensure that candidates who are working with children and vulnerable adults have the relevant level of disclosure, a careful overall selection process operates involving reference checking and thorough interviews.
In response to the demand by our private clients to ensure safe recruitment of candidates, a range of options have been developed for clients who wish to undertake further security checks on employees.
Greycoat Support is delighted to be able to offer pre-employment screening for clients who have sourced candidates through their own searches or a range of extended packages for candidates recruited through Greycoat Placements. We can process CRB checks for those who fulfill the relevant criteria and also assist with interviews, references, together with further security checks including overseas criminal records checks. Clients can choose packages relevant to their needs to purchase one of our standard options.
